The hut is perched on the Fuorcla da Lavaz, at the far end of the Val Plattas, at 2524 meters above sea level. Cliffs rise steeply next to the hut but do not obscure the view to the East and the West, spoiling hikers, climbers and skiers with spectacular sunsets.

The Val Plattas is a side valley of the Lukmanier Pass – Curaglia is the starting point of the hut trail (Upper Surselva, canton of Graubünden). The hut is owned by the Uto Section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) and sleeps up to 55 people. On average, we have 2000 overnight stays a year – hikers and alpinists in the sommer, skiers and snowshoe hikers in the winter
